Singh elected mayor for third term; Barragan deputy

NJ MONTGOMERY — Montgomery elects Neena Singh mayor for her third consecutive term with unanimous Committee support. Singh and Deputy Mayor Vincent Barragan were unanimously elected, with Singh outlining 2026 priorities in transportation relief, community health, public safety, and youth development. The Committee unanimously approved five formal resolutions and a 31-item consent agenda establishing appointments across dozens of municipal boards and committees, and adopted a temporary 2026 budget of $8,993,027.40 for general operations and $1,490,475.00 for sewer functions.
During public comment, former Mayor Sadaf Jaffer sought clarity on claims that state funding was withheld over policy disagreements, and resident Devra Keenan raised concerns about the newly added religious invocation at municipal meetings.
