Planning Board recommends ban on data centers and detention centers
Planning Board · Meeting of June 8, 2026
NJ MONTGOMERY — Montgomery Planning Board moves to ban data centers and detention centers. The board unanimously recommended Ordinance #26-1779 to the Township Committee, which would prohibit the facilities throughout Montgomery. Chair Dave Campeas and the nine-member board agreed the ordinance is consistent with the Master Plan and recommended adding language to exempt the Montgomery Township Police Department's temporary holding cells.
In other action, the board approved a 7-0 subdivision and variance for Pai-Clo, LLC on Route 206. Route 206 and Route 518 intersection improvements are anticipated to bring new loop roads online within one to two months.
