Montgomery approves 3.5 percent budget cap for 2026

NJ MONTGOMERY — Montgomery Township Committee votes unanimously to approve 3.5 percent budget cap for 2026. Mayor Neena Singh led the Committee to a unanimous vote on Ordinance #26-1774, which allows the 2026 municipal budget to increase by $837,993.94 and establishes a cap bank of $359,140.26 in unused authority. Under New Jersey's Local Government CAP Law, municipalities are typically limited to 2 percent annual budget growth without special authorization.
The Committee also unanimously approved a contract extension with Galbraith & Son Excavation for sewer excavation and repair services not to exceed $75,000.
