Committee approves 2026 budget, $9.5M open space grant

NJ MONTGOMERY — Montgomery Committee adopts 2026 budget and approves $9.5M state open space grant. The Township Committee unanimously adopted the 2026 municipal budget while authorizing a $9,525,000 Green Acres grant for open space acquisition. Mayor Neena Singh received notification of $850,000 from Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman for Community Center revitalization, $500,000 from Assemblywoman Mitchelle Drulis and Assemblyman Roy Freiman, and $14,470 from Somerset County for historical wayfinding signage.
Chief Financial Officer Michael Pitts emphasized fiscal discipline and adherence to state tax caps. The Committee unanimously designated 23 Orchard Road as an area in need of redevelopment.
